Gabriel Martinez

Gabriel Martez was raised in Madrid but spent significant stretches of his adolescence in his maternal grandparents' village in Extremadura, where flamenco wasn't a performance tradition but a household one. He returned to the city with a technical grounding most conservatory students spend years chasing. His 2010s work as a composer and session guitarist made him a fixture of Madrid's neo-flamenco scene, but he resists categorization. He is equally comfortable with jazz harmony, electronic production, and traditional cante. He considers all of it the same conversation.
