Biography
Mei Han arrived in Bogotá in the early 1970s with a single suitcase and a secondhand acoustic guitar. Born in Shanghai, she had spent a decade moving through Hong Kong, São Paulo, and Lima before Colombia felt like somewhere she might stay. The altitude suited her. The city's underground folk scene gave her a stage, and she gave it something it hadn't heard before — a fingerpicking style grafted onto Andean rhythms, and lyrics that moved between Mandarin and Spanish mid-verse. Everything she has is live recordings, passed around on cassette and later on memory sticks.
