Miguel Rodriguez

Miguel Fornoy grew up in East Los Angeles in the 1980s, the son of a Mexican father and a Filipino mother who both played in church bands and considered secular music a necessary vice. He inherited both the talent and the ambivalence. His early recordings blend corrido structures with post-punk guitar work and lyrics that circle around displacement, loyalty, and the specific loneliness of belonging to two communities fully and neither one completely. He has never left the neighborhood he grew up in. He says he gets everything he needs within a mile radius.
